On a drizzly Friday in July, two teams of CNG’s best golfers dusted off their clubs and headed out for our annual charity golf day with players from various local businesses and charities.
It’s become a firm favourite in our fundraising calendar. It’s great to get everyone together, hit a few golf balls around and raise some money for important causes – all in memory and celebration of the life of our founder, Colin Gaines.
Despite the showery spells, the golfers were in high spirits and kept their eyes on the ball. Our CNGers are never ones to shy away from a bit of healthy competition! The 22 teams started teeing off at 8:30am and most were done by 5:30pm. By then they’d all earned some delicious food and a refreshing drink or two whilst they dried off.
Then it was time for the auction where players could bid for hotel stays at The Yorkshire Hotel and Rudding Park, a Slingsby Gin gift hamper, a signed Leeds Rhino top, dinner for two at The West Park Hotel, a wine case or a round of four ball at Oakdale.
To finish off the evening, our fabulous MD, Jacqui Hall, gave a wonderful speech thanking everyone for taking part, congratulating the winners and reminding us why it’s so important to get involved in events like this one. That’s nothing new for CNG, giving back is just in our DNA, but it’s great to do it as a collective with other local businesses and charities. Team work really does make the dream work!
A huge thank you to Oakdale Golf Club for hosting such a fantastic event and to all those who donated prizes for the auction. The day was a great success and we managed to raise close to £10,000, taking us one step closer to our £25k charity target for the year. The day couldn’t have gone ahead without the efforts of our fantastic CNG team, they did a great job putting everything together and ensured the day ran smoothly. Last but by no means least, thank you to all the players who got involved, the money raised will go on to help so many.
