Modern Slavery Statement
This statement sets out the approach that CNG (Group) Ltd (“CNG” or “we”) has/have taken both to understand all potential modern slavery and human trafficking risks related to its business, and the actions undertaken to reduce any such risks during 2021.
About CNG Group
CNG is an independent shipper of gas (Wholesale) and supplier of gas and electricity (Retail) in the United Kingdom. CNG has 175 employees and, in addition to the Wholesale shipping business and Retail supply business also operates physical supply-chain fulfilment arrangements throughout Europe. CNG’s business is split into four primary business teams: Wholesale Suppliers (Shipping), Retail Supply (SMEs and larger corporations), Energy Procurement (physical supply-chain fulfilment) and CNG Merchant Services Limited.
CNG fully supports the aims of the Modern Slavery Act and remains committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Our Anti-Slavery Statement reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.
Due diligence processes for slavery and human trafficking
We have a dedicated compliance team, which consists of representatives from the following functions:
- Risk & Audit
As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk we:
- Conduct periodic reviews of various parts of our Group to ensure no slavery or human trafficking takes place in any part of our business whilst also periodically seeking positive assurance from our suppliers
- Incorporate appropriate anti-slavery and human trafficking provisions into our procurement and third party supplier contracts on a risk assessed basis.
- Protect whistle blowers.
Supplier adherence to our Values
We have zero tolerance to slavery and human trafficking. Wherever practicable we ensure any supplier we work with has similar values and principles as CNG. In affirming our zero tolerance approach to human rights abuse, we encourage our suppliers to establish their own risk assessment processes and inform them that we will be periodically checking compliance with our standards. We utilise communication and personal contact points with the next link in the supply chain and where possible we build long standing relationships with local suppliers and make clear our expectations of business behaviour.
Recruitment & Employee Awareness
CNG operates a clear and fair recruitment process; including conducting thorough eligibility checks for working in the UK for all employees to safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will. All employees have access to this Statement and undertake mandatory modern slavery related compliance eLearning training on a periodic basis.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our Group’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the period 2020/21. This statement will be reviewed and published each year on the CNG Website (www.cngltd.co.uk)
