Consultants play a vital role in meeting customer needs, to serve as impartial advisors finding the energy supplier that suits your service needs and a price that’s right.
It has been a notoriously difficult time for many businesses, the pandemic has had a large financial impact and many are facing reduced income as a result of reduced footfall.
Over 41% of SMEs rely on consultants to manage their energy supply, but at a time where operational costs and uncertainty are increasing and as a business you may be feeling very vulnerable, how can you be sure you are choosing the right partner?
At CNG we champion doing the right thing and ensure the consultants we work with do too.
So here are our top tips for finding the right energy partner for you:
Check which suppliers each consultant works with!
Our industry has been licking its wounds from previous years and not every supplier is working in your best interests. Finding out which suppliers they work with will allow you to get a fair and better deal and will stop you getting stung with any nasty surprises.
Has your energy consultant asked you to agree an LOA (Letter of Authority)?
An LOA enables them to act on your behalf. If you have not been asked to agree one of these, it is usually a red flag. Make sure you are clear from the start on what you are giving them permission to do and what you are not.
We are lucky enough to live in a day and age where we don’t have to take their word for it, we can hear from their customers too – check reviews, accreditations and awards!
Ask them how they will help you make an informed choice
Yes you want to get a good price, but it is also important that your consultant helps you choose the supplier who you will receive a good service from too. The consultant should be knowledgeable on each of their suppliers and be able to answer any questions you should have on them.
Finally; trust your gut, if it feels right – it usually is!
We believe in making energy work for everyone and since day one we’ve been championing reform and putting the customer first. We hold ourselves accountable as a business for not only how we work, but who we work with; our consultants are chosen for their service standards, their approach, their ability to understand our business and show an understanding of and synergy with our values and endeavour to work with the best partners.
